Yellow is one of the most cheerful and fun colors yet it’s rarely a main color tone in interior design. That’s one of the reasons why we’re so excited to have come across this wonderful efficiency apartment from Stockholm, Sweden. The apartment was completely remodeled in 2018, a project completed by studio Lookofsky Architecture. It’s situated in a building originally built in the 1920’s and has a total surface of 80 square meters. The first thing we noticed when looking at the new interior design was the choice of colors. The yellow tone which was integrated throughout the apartment is bold and cheerful with a warm and at the same time delicate appearance. It’s used in combination with white surfaces, light grays and warm wooden flooring.
Apart from the color palette, the new interior design of this place also stands out through the face that it has a very airy and open vibe without sacrificing privacy or functionality. In fact, the designers employed a very clever strategy: they gave the apartment a series of three built-in walls, each serving a distinct set of functions. One of the walls is seven meters long and part of the kitchen layout. It incorporates several components, each serving a separate function. The ensemble as a whole gives the space depth and character.
Another built-in wall can be found in the bathroom where it satisfies the owners’ storage needs and the last one is part of the bedroom and incorporates a wardrobe module. Together, these 3 structures give the apartment a very welcoming and wholesome feel and in combination with the yellow accents create a playful vibe. They also contribute to the harmonious look and feel of the apartment as a whole which greatly improves social interaction and everyday life.
