Halloween Ribbon Wreath

Ribbon is one of my favorite craft supplies! There are so many fun designs to choose for every season, and investing in a few rolls doesn’t break the bank. Today, I’m sharing how to make a super easy ribbon wreath using two favorite ribbon designs and an embroidery hoop. I created my wreath to enjoy this Halloween, but because this method is so incredibly easy, when Halloween has come and gone, I can make another for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more! Ready to make a ribbon wreath of your own? Let me show you how it’s done!

Halloween Ribbon Wreath Supplies

  • 7″ embroidery hoop
  • Decorative WIRED ribbon in assorted designs (my wreath required around 12 yards total)
  • Sewing shears
  • Embellishments (I decided to use my Tassel Ghosts to embellish mine, but something like a wood letter would be cute, too!)

Use the shears to trim the ribbon into 18″ sections.

Remove the outer ring from the embroidery hoop, and set aside. (You can use this outer hoop to make another wreath if you like!)

Working with one ribbon piece at a time, fold the piece in half.

Slip the folded loop toward the back of the embroidery hoop, as shown.

Tuck the two ends up and through the loop to form a slip knot.

Pull the knot tightly to secure. Continue in this fashion with the other ribbon pieces, alternating with different colors/patterns of ribbon as desired.

When the entire perimeter of the wreath is covered with the ribbon, use the shears to trim the raw ends of the ribbon into a “v”.

Now, embellish your wreath as you like with a bow accent at the top or other items. I finished my wreath by tying on a small garland with a pair of my adorable tassel ghosts and topping everything off with a small bow of my favorite preppy black and white striped twill ribbon from Michaels. I just love how everything came together!
